Gootube gets sued for $1BMarch 15, 2007
Media monster Viacom is suing youtube for copyright infringement. There suing because youtube hosts videos like “The Daily Show” and “South Park”, which is produced by the media giant. It makes sense, I guess. Although it is unfortunate that we might see an end to youtube, they do have a right to go after Google (recently the new owners of the video sharing website).
Can anyone say Metallica?
Lars Ulrich, the drummer from Metallica got his panties in a bunch a few years back and got Napster shutdown. Now we see the same situation here but this time it’s with the big boys. These two companies will be battling it out in court. This should be an interesting story to follow.
Would you pay for youtube? I mean, what if Viacom actually get’s there way and good old youtube is subscription based, or even worse, shut down forever. My guess is that the same thing that happened to the music sharing industry will happen to the video sharing industry; people will figure out how to get whatever they want anyway.
